Tehran
Iran
After the great disappointment I endured from being in the middle
east and so far not seeing a single oil well, I figured I might as well get ready and head for Tehran.
I had downloaded some scenery for Tehran so I figured it should be a pretty good
stop on my tour of the world.
I wandered through my hangar and found a Kuwait Airlines 747-400 and figured that
would be a nice buggy to cruise to Iran in.
The first attempt failed at 11,000' when the plane did one of those nose up things
for no apparent reason and nearly flipped over, there was nothing I could do about it, the 747 went into a stall which I managed
to recover, then it went back into the same routine and I just crashed the damn thing into the persian gulf.
There just so happened to be some U.S. ships in the area and they fished my limp
body out of the water, they doctored me up a bit and gave me a lift back to Kuwait city.
I hopped into a Kuwait Airlines 747-400 just like the first one and took to the sky,
this time the fucker stalled at 5000' and I crashed into the desert.
Man, screw that stupid plane, after a few days in an intensive care unit, I got out
my trusty Iran Air 747-SP and headed out, I'm very lucky to have survived so many crashes on this trip so far without being
killed, my guardian angel (who looks just like Britney Spears) has surely been riding on my shoulder the whole way, sometimes
she likes to ride my musta....sorry, wrong website for that story.
As I made my way across Iran I was quite surprised at some of the nice scenery
I was flying over, I thought Iran to be mostly desert, but I was seeing some very cool cliffs, lakes, rivers and mountains.
The final approach into Tehran revealed that the scenery I downloaded was impressive
indeed, I think the file was called Tehran scenery 2003.
The airport was very detailed and the city was nice as well, I believe the airport
is Mehrabad International, and there were those little luggage buggies running around, constant arrivals and departures and
other movement, I was quite impressed and reccomend this add-on scenery.
I decided to cruise around the airport in my Jaguar and examine it a little more
closely, what I found was quite interesting as you will see from my pictures, these guys really need to work on their parking
techniques.
I soon took a Cessna and proceeded to head into town, there was some nice looking
monuments and such to go flying around, I bet I spent 2 hours flying around Tehran and snapping photos, of course I had to
choose a limited number to show here due to the time it takes for me to upload so many screenies.
I couldn't resist the temptation to fly under that arch shaped monument, looked like
it would be no problem, I found out different in a big hurry as my wings were sheared off and I plumeted to the ground, once
again Britney (guardian angel) plucked me from the throes of certain death and subjected me to only several critical and disfiguring
injuries, I'm sure glad she is always there for me.
After re-gaining control of most of my major body functions and motor skills, I jumped
back into the Cessna and went for a night flight around this amazing scenery, if you are ever flying to Tehran I urge you
to hunt down and add this file which I probably got at avsim.com.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Tehran, I spent several days there
just flying around taking in this great add-on freeware scenery, it is one of the nicest places I have seen in quite some
time.
But as it always goes on this journey, the time had come to leave, but my next destination
should prove quite interesting, I would next visit Baghdad and maybe lend a hand to our troops over there.
I loaded up my gear (wheelchair, crutches, etc.)
into the Iran-air 747-SP, but when I was running through my systems check I discovered that
my GPS was no longer working, I realized I must have overwritten the file while adding something, so I went to Simviation
and with the help of Ender_Baron who sent me the original file, I was back up and ready to depart in no time.
I was on my way to Baghdad Iraq, currently the hot spot of the world.
Baghdad Iraq
The flight went off perfectly, I don't remember where I got this Iran-air 747-SP,
but it sure has been reliable.
Nice perfect approach, but for some reason when I landed the front gear collapsed
and I slammed into the pavement nose first, this incident resulted in a broken nose for me, no biggie. The sim went
into crash mode, so I restarted right at the Baghdad runway and taxied like nothing happened, the airport was so abandonded
that I'm sure no one saw what happened anyway. A very non-busy airport, as can be expected I guess.
Well, I had found some scenery for Baghdad, but surprisingly there wasn't much available
that I could come up with during my searches, I found some photo realistic files I downloaded, but they were not 3-D, so it
was just blurry at low altitudes, but looked very nice from around 10,000' and above.
But overall Baghdad sucked, which really pissed me off, so I borrowed an F-16 and started
cruising around town shootin' shit up, I took the F-16 back because it just wasn't doing enough to satisfy my ambitions, I
took a look through my hangar and found my ultimate weapon, the DC-3 that drops the atomic bomb, and with all the love in
my heart I dropped about 5 Nukes on Baghdad. Hey, you're welcome.
Fuck Baghdad, I'm goin to Egypt.
After studying my atlas, I finally decided to start in Cairo and work my way around
the Mediteranean and visit all the holy lands and rest of the middle east.
Cairo Egypt
I found a U.S. Air force C-5 Galaxy and chose that for the flight to Cairo.
The flight went fine, my path took me directly over the Dead Sea, which I would visit more
closely when I returned to this area, I could see the cities of
Amman, Beersheba and Jerusalem in the distance, but for now I was non-stop to Cairo.
The approach went just fine, and ATC vectored me right over some of the pyramids
on final, and then at the last second before touchdown something went dreadfully wrong.
I don't know if I stalled or what happened for sure but I just sort of fell out of the sky
and buried the C-5 into the ground.
DAMMIT!! This trip is part of my trip is reminding me of India.
I'm in Egypt now, COOL!
The thing that this area reminds me of most is those Mummy movies with Brendon Frasier
and Rachel Weisz, (Rachel, if you are reading this, email me baby, whatsup? Let's get to-geth-uh.)
So I figured a Bi-plane would be a nice way to view the sites.
I fired up a bi-plane I had in my hangar and took off to the west pyramid hunting,
they are not that hard to find, at least the most popular ones across the crick from Cairo in Giza, but I was very disappointed
that there was no Sphinx, WTF?
I could see some more stuff off in the distance and went to investigate, I found
another site with two pyramids and then another spot with only one.
On my way back to the airport an United 747 wanted to race, I let him win because
I didn't feel like racing that day.
Well that's about all there is to tell about Cairo and this leg of my journey, I
must have took 50 screenshots on this part of my travels and tried to narrow it down to the best ones.
Next I will be heading to Israel, Jordon, Syria, Lebanon and those places, the Holy land.
Also, with the recent release of FS2004, I am still debating on switching my Misadventures
entirely over to this format once I finish my visit to the holy land, due to the fact I already added a bunch of scenery for
this area. I have been messing with 2K4 quite a bit and I really like it, but I get much lower performance than I do with
2K2 and a lot of the planes I use now don't work properly.
We'll see what happens.
